Praktikum für einen Studenten der Heliopolis-Universität mit Vorbildwirkung!

Die Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development (HU) und SEKEM-Österreich sind dem Verein Arche-Guntrams  und seinem Obmann Dr. Stefan Gergely mit seinem Team äußerst dankbar für ein sehr erfolgreiches zweimonatiges Praktikum, das als Vorbild für weitere Praktika in Österreich gelten kann.
Eines der  wesentlichen Kriterien der Studien an der HU ist der Praxisbezug. Dazu ein Zitat aus der Website der HU:
During the course of their studies, students will work on projects with partner companies using a problem-solving approach. Thus, they acquire new competences through studying and applying new skills in a real-life environment.

Dr. Stefan Gergely als Initiator für die seit 2012 bestehendene Elisabeth-Gergely-Stipendien hatte im Vorjahr die Idee, einem Studenten der HU ein Praktikum in Österreich zu ermöglichen. Die Auswahl des Kandidaten erfolgte im Jänner 2017 noch in Absprache mit Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Abouleish und fiel auf Karim Mokhtar Elwakad, einen Studenten  der  Faculty-of-Business-and-Economics der HU:  

Nach inhaltlicher Absprache mit dem Dekan der Fakultät, einer Vereinbarung zwischen SEKEM-Österreich und dem Verein Arche Guntrams  sowie nach Erledigung aller Visumsformalitäten - danke an die Österreichische Botschaft in Kairo! - konnte Karim am 16. 9. 2017 sein Praktikum in Guntrams beginnen.

Das Thema seiner Arbeit war:

Verarbeiten von Äpfeln in kleinem agrarischem Maßstab unter ökonomischen Gesichtspunkten (Cost of production of fruit and fruit juices on small agricultural scale - Analysis of effort for harvesting, processing and bottling of juices, with special consideration of personnel costs, as well as development of a calculation model for profitability depending on selling price and remuneration).

Karim wurde bei seinem Aufenthalt nicht nur durch Dr. Stefan Gergely selbst, sondern auch durch das Ehepaar Sigrid und Reinhard Adelsberger  fachlich und persönlich hervorragend betreut. Aber auch die Leistungen von Karim waren ausgezeichnet - so heißt es im abschließenden Bericht u. a.:
Mr. Karim Mokhtar Elwakad always fulfilled his tasks with the greatest commitment and to our fullest satisfaction. He showed a very rapid understanding and reacted to given circumstances in a highly efficient manner.
 
Und zum Abschluss  sei  der persönliche Bericht  von Karim angefügt:

As a business and economics student at Heliopolis University in Cairo, I participated in a two-month internship at “Verein Arche Guntrams”  in Austria,  The main task of my internship was to calculate the cost of production of fruit juices on small agriculture scale-analysis of effort for harvesting, processing and bottling of juices, with special consideration of personnel costs, as well as a development of a calculation model for profitability depending on selling price and remuneration, Overall, the experience proved to be both enjoyable and rewarding, for me it was a new experience to gain and however encounter some difficulties working on the task. Namely, as an undergraduate student, I was used to receiving very detailed, step-by-step instructions, whereas I was given more flexibility and autonomy during my internship, Working in the production room made me gain an experience of a lifetime, Living in Austria for two-months was a new experience for me because it’s totally different from my home country, Also it was nice to be invited for two days in Graz by SekemEnergy and  Sekem Austria, of course I am very thankful for Dr. Stefan Gergely and Mr. Reinhard Adelsberger for the knowledge and the experience, it was a big honor to work with them, and also very thankful for Sigrid Adelsberger for the beautiful treatment and help, it was really the most beautiful two-months in my life full of adventure and new experience, And to work again for this company will be a big pleasure.
